During adolescence bones grow rapidly, so teens need a lot of calcium in their diet. Once a person reaches full growth, calcium needs stabilize, but there are periods when calcium needs increase, such as during pregnancy, lactation, and healing from injuries. In old age, the bones begin to lose some of their sturdiness (this is called osteoporosis . Senior citizens need to be particularly conscious about the level of calcium in their diet and about which medications interfere with calcium absorption.

Galina, you are right, that's why they only recommend 1-3 servings ( optional) of dairy products a day. WHich is just 8os of yogurt, and, maybe a tiny bit of cheese.
There are chapters with specifics. And the key word is "optional":

If people tolerate dairy - it is Ok.

Inna, I am with you on that. Meat does not make me sick, beans, nuts and fiber do. What could be better than that: grilled steak or grilled salmon, or rosted lamb that I had today at Outback.(Y) (Y)

po-moemu eto ot neprivichki. it's just like starting to exercise after years of sedentary living - it will make you sore at first, and sitting on the couch will definitely feel better, but the benefits are worth the initial aches and pains.
