I can't argue about what's more eco-friendly, but below statement sounds like written by someone not familiar with recycling process and using general terms.
When recycling car you would have to separate different metals, plastic, rubber, etc., first and then burn/melt whatever you can't separate. Somewhat of a standard process when you recycle components with different metals, because different metals melt at different temperatures therefore naturally separating. Sounds not very eco-friendly if compared to mining. I seen somewhere on internet a cost of recycling car is $1300. Not sure if its true so don't quote me. |

Lina, don't hesitate to quote any site that instructs us to love each other, buy every bad person a puppy, and through it achieve a perfect world of peace & beauty. Can't wait to read it. |
I like how these eco-friendly peacenick commie hippie tree huggers haven't the first clue about what they're talking about. How much energy goes into recycling, transportation, etc. Any thinking person understands that these gas guzzlers were better off on the road. But they see the word green or gas emissions reduction and they go ga-ga.

Polyurethane products (floor mats and truck bed liners) According to the Center for Polyurethanes Industry, there are three common methods for recycling:
Industrial and post-consumer foam is re-ground into powders and used to produce new foam. Flexible foam underlay from carpets and mats is bonded together to make new padding products. Polyurethane granules are pressed, coated with a binder and then cured under heat and pressure. These pressed granules can be used to make parts like car floor mats and tire covers. |
Steel and aluminum (wheels and wheel covers) If wheels and wheel covers have minimal scuffing or scratching, they can be resold as used parts. If wheels are not reusable, they can be sold as scrap, formed into briquettes and reshaped into other metal parts or accessories.
Metal, plastic and foam (car seats) 95 percent of the materials used to make a car seat can be reclaimed. Car seats are dismantled and parts are separated for standard recycling (metal, plastic and foam). |
Olga and Oleg, none of us are experts in the field, rather tnan mocking and insulting please presenta valid opposing argument, supported by some credible data.
. Any thinking person understands that these gas guzzlers were better off on the road. . You presume that I think and understand less than you? . I like how these eco-friendly peacenick commie hippie tree huggers haven't the first clue about what they're talking about. . Such hatred from a person entrusted with shaping and molding impressionable young minds.*-) |
Who said I was talking about you? And unlike my militant liberal co-workers I don't shape or mold anyone's brains. I'm not a brainwashing aficionado. Typical liberal agenda - shape/mold by teachers and media.
AND those polyurethane products are not gonna grind themselves unless Obama and his fast talking pawns chew them up for us. |
And YOUR credible data from Center for Polyurethanes Industry which just got a huge green light (parson the pun) and a giant government contract to pretend to recycle this into energy efficient environmentally friendly that is valid?
Either way you slice it, the floor mats are more energy efficient NOW on the floor of the car than they will be after a very expensive and cumbersome process of converting them into anything else. |

. Funny, I don't have similar terms of endearment for my conservative coworkers, I actually don't even think of people in those terms... Agenda??? More like twisted conspiracy theory of yours, because I have yet to see any evidence of any brainwashing. And you don't need to be an aficionado to influence young minds, the type of language you use when referring to people who don't share your views, is more than sufficient. |
Who said I was talking about you?
Any thinking person understands that these gas guzzlers were better off on the road. . Well, if I'm not yet convinced that these cars are better off on the road, according to you, I'm not a thinking person. . And YOUR credible data from Center for Polyurethanes Industry which just got a huge green light (parson the pun) and a giant government contract to pretend to recycle this into energy efficient environmentally friendly that is valid? . My data, credible or not, trumps any information you have presented so far (none)... As for your opinion on the subject, well, we all have one... |
