I am not saying that Russia is right to support Iran.. in fact from my standpoint they are acting like fucken assholes. However from *russia* perspective they are doing their best to counterposition themselves to US as a superpower they used to be.
But even that is not my point. My point is US does what's beneficial to US (thru the prism of whoever is in power) before anyone else, and Russia does what's beneficial to Russia.
This is why US supported and will support people who some other country may call terrorists and so will Russia..

if, like you claim, US was only doing what's good for them, why would they support Israel (and I am not talking about recent administration), when it's much easier to side with a huge muslim world and abandon Israel? Why they are supporting Tibet when it's ? Because they are doing what's RIGHT...maybe it's just hard to understand for some...:-|

to answer the Israel question
1) Israel is a strategic ally of the US. They represent US interests in the middle east.
2) There is a large Jewish lobby in US, which spends a lot of money to motivate administration in their support of Israel.
It's like employer/employee relationships.. beneficial to both sides... and while it's the case they work together, as soon as one side gains other interests it will break, and nobody will care what's "right".

because there is a bunch in between, that's why US doesn't always do what's kosher or right...but at the least it's the goal...unlike for others, it's never the goal...

there is a reason Israel is US ally - they share lots of common values...there is a reason Iran and others are not an ally..

And how is "protecting" Iran by Putin good for the Russian people?...more or less, nations who are American allies live much better than those who are trying to compete w/US for the superpower status...

So, how does Kuwait values ( a strict Muslim state ) align with US value? Or is it now common enemies? :) which one is it? value? enemies?
