GM would have had to handle it's own business. In capitalist society, if the company cannot sustain it's obligations it would file for bankruptcy.
But in in this case, you beloved president and his team stepped in with bunch of Congress people... and yes, the greedy unions did not help. But wait a minute, the president is a union's man. So someone somewhere definitely benefited...
The problem is - the story is wrong, driven by some idea for a better outcome, instead of natural development...

totally support your stand on educating those who have problems paying for education - it all pays back. I see those kids who struggle financially and want to succeed every day, and understand that by paying for my kids I helped to educate those too - and it is totally OK with me.

The letters of recommendation are from the peers -- students request those themselves. Usually they come from professors in their colleges/universities who taught those students or worked with them before.

Additional information: grades in major, GPA, courses takes, if they had previous research experience is great too (but this is not required). But we try to also give a chance to students who are willing to learn, but had no opportunity.

Потому что в собственном деле (бизнесе) образование не лишние, но не определяющий фактор, там другие качества нужны! Любой бизнесмен, имеющий своё дело, это подтвердит! Можно не иметь диплома, а быть супер в собственном деле! В связи с этим, правительство может хотеть конечно, но увы, это утопия! На бизнес, даже малый, нельзя вдохновить! И вообще, не нужно этого делать, хотя правительство и так это знает!

Алексей, учитывается ли в рекомендациях личностный фактор? Думаю да, возьмём 2 студента с одинаковыми возможностями, один нравится, покладистый, так сказать, а второй не очень. Понятно, что рекомендацию лучшую дадут покладистому!

Потомучто в собственном деле (бизнесе) образование не лишние, но неопределяющий фактор, там другие качества нужны! Любой бизнесмен,имеющий своё дело, это подтвердит! Можно не иметь диплома, а быть суперв собственном деле!

Ну так а кто с этим спорит? Но это совсем не означает что образование не нужно, верно? Даже фермерам образование в наши дни нужно. Я думаю что в наши дни владелец успешного бизнеса без образования -- это скорее исключение.
