I didn't read the whole topic....
can somebody summarize why one needs to be a "good" liberal and what exactly does this mean? I can sort of summarize what in my mind is a "good" conservative: a fiscal conservative not too much into religion and reasonably socially in the middle. So what is a "good" liberal? |
Alexey, now take those numbers from these Union-backed sites and factcheck them.
For example they claim that 46% of walmart employees are covered with health insurance, however if you follow the link they reference is states "over 90 percent of Wal-Mart associates have coverage" I know how much you love the unions, but.. nigga, please :) |
Good liberal is dead liberal? :-)
Mike, as for the Unions, I think you mix me up with Vershinin. I like US automotive industry, not the unions. |
actually the topic is sarcastic...not implying anyone persoanlly...just the thinking behind some of issues that liberalism stands for...for example -
going back to Wal-Mart - from personal knowledge of some of the people working for WM - some choose not to buy any coverage and either utilize free clinics, ERs or state coverage for their kids...is it WM's fault's that people are trying to get free lunch?..I don't think so.. and yes, WM also pays over-time, travel time (when you work in a different location that your home store), milliage/tolls...no, they are in no way the worst of the worst like they are being portrayed, again, because they don't want to be run by the unions... |
Yes, Alex - we are.
I am personally involved. If you need my personal assurances -we can meet and I will show you my credentials. |
Aleksey, i remember u defending unions on many occasions, and now you link union sites as authoritative information source.. May just as well reference NJ mob websites.. wait.. it's the same thing :)
|
Mike, if you remember correctly, all our Union discussions were related to the automotive industry. As for the websites -- google "Walmart limited health plan" and they come on the top :-).
Hmmm... maybe google knows me better... that would be scary. BTW, I might have mentioned that I'm part of the Union -- and will be happy to tell you what I like and (mostly) what I don't like about it. |
Gera, I believe you. :-) Excellent -- I'm looking forward to seeing the Volt in dealerships. I only saw it at the show in Cobo -- but they didn't even let us sit inside...
But you are always welcome to stop by my office at Wayne State and we can have a coffee or lunch or something! |
Wla-Mart's so called limited health plan that you mentioned earlier is not a normal health plan, but their own version of Cobra...you can either pick it before your benefits kick in, or after you end your employment...
|
Are you one of those professors who lecture to 300 students and don't give a damn about helping them with homework?
Detoit downtown - would not be my preferred location for a fun lunch. |
