Do you feel any symptoms of a "chosen race"?
 

In response to someone's bizarre rant:
I feel this strange tingling in my toes when I wear high heels. I must be the "chosen one"
I also feel special when I cast down my eyes. I CAN see my nose!!!! FOR REAL!!!

Not only does he talk to me ALL the time, he's in my bedroom ALWAYS. I can smell him with my nose.

Can body parts be "chosen"? My thighs and my butt feel "chosen" as they insist on storing up for long periods of persecution andexhile. Maybe my daughter's body will have an easier time parting with calories.

She also feels "chosen". She told me that her heart and her brain told her that Jewish children do not get grounded. Ah! Sheinah Meidelah!

And I made a mistake. I wasn't feeling AGGRESSIVE last night. I was feeling AGGRESSOR-ish. Got my geo-political terminology all mixed up. Must be my stupid pagan Mordvinian quarter blood acting up again.

and I feel really chosen every day when infants CHOOSE to spit on my freshly cleaned slacks.

А если по "теме", то в одной еврейской религиозной группе один НЕрелигиозный еврей задал похожий вопрос "типа чем мы особенные или лучше"..и вот что ответил ему РЕлигиозный еврей, и за такие witty answers я и люблю иудаизм и евреев..:-)
Не пойму, в чем вопрос. Из трех женщин мужчина выбрал одну. Оначто, стала лучше? Просто он женился на ней, а на остальных - нет. Онастала его женой со всеми вытекающими последствиями, в первуюочередь обязанностями ОБЕИХ СТОРОН.

From what I understand the major misconception is that some equate choseness with superiority, which can't be further from what it's meant to be.... Isn't it basically about the Covenant with G-d? And mostly about the obligations stemming from it?

no, superiority for sure, just following the commandmants (numerous, over 600, not just ten)..before Jews God had offered Torah to other people(nations), and they declined, but Abraham was the first one to make a covenant with God..
I am no expert at all, but if you are even slightly interested, I can invite you to a group where they answer any questions..

it's not even so much commandments..the better translation would be mitzhvots = good deeds..

That's how I understand it. Chosen не есть superior. It's more about obeing the God's will because they were chosen to LEARN about HIS will.

Seriously, any agnostic will probably say the same - all commandments are just simply common moral code and civility rules, the rest is "marketing" to get people to follow

I wish we could have a normal, itelligent conersation about religion, but I know the common scenario too well...
