I live in South Florida and, sadly, our *typical farmer's market usually consists of empanadas, lucky bamboo, artisan breads, orchids and fancy soaps. Therefore to find local/organic produce we (me and *my American friends) participate in an organic coop -- we get a variety of vegatables and fruit every two weeks. The quality is excelent and the prices beat WHole Foods *or Publix hands down (for organic, of course).

Also, our major supermarket, Publix has opened several Publix Greenwise locations -- these are fantastic, they have all the bells and whistles of a Whole Foods, but also carry regular Publix products and have slightly lower prices. unfortunately the one closest to me is 40 min away....
