The National Gallery’s unprecedented blockbuster exhibition, ‘Leonardo Da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan’ (Nov 9-Feb 5 2012) is the most complete gathering of paintings by the Renaissance old master ever to be staged. Of course, the Mona Lisa never leaves her bulletproof cage in Paris, but all of Leonardo’s other extant masterpieces that can travel are visiting London this autumn.
We have invited the National Gallery’s curator, Per Rumberg, to reveal some of the secrets behind two pictures in the show, ‘The Lady with an Ermine’ and ‘The Virgin on the Rocks’. Follow his trail through the hidden details to reveal our guide to decoding Da Vinci.
