nothing personal, Alexey...but I never liked college professors...some are really arogant...never been happier in my life when I finally got out of that mad house college...:-)

Well yeah, Sveta, colleges are places for LEARNING and EXPANDING YOURHORIZONS so I can see how that atmosphere was depressing for you
how would one know if they didn't go to an american college? teaching ESL students doesn't qualify...:-)

education - the hell with them. by the way, what is your definition of the real world? do you think that an investor banker or a policeman live in the same world as you? why single out those in the academia?

academia IS for the most part detached from the real world..
for the most part they teach abstract science and real world is a lot more applied.
but so what?

Alexey, i must have misunderstood..
what i meant - in general most professors at med schools are PhDs or MDs/PhDs..
Also MD is a very practical degree.. there are not very many of those
