Oh and Michigan and New York aren't the only states in the union.
This is exactly what I'm talking about - demagoguery. What does it even suppose to mean? New Mexico and Rhode Island are better examples? Of what?
I don't want to start another fight with you, but every other post in this topic is based on either fact or personal opinion, can you keep it that way?
And I meant posts by my ideological foes, as well. Unagreeble but poignant.

perhaps if medical coverage was more affordable - if one didn't have to decide between getting health insurance and paying rent- we would have fewer who are "voluntarily" uninsured.

Lina, we've lowered our gas consumption because it became less affordable. Raise medical cost and we will have fewer doctors visits. You will then be able to claim that nation is healthier

Oleg, 40 mil are uninsured by choice or total, including can't afford?
No, the ones that choose not to purchase it.
P.S. Can't afford - понятие о-о-о-о-о-чень растяжимое.

Alex, it's a great question!!!
7% of the uninsured make over 75K/year - meaning they choose not to get coverage and pay a la carte for their healthcare.
36% income under 10K, which make them eligible for Medicaid, which they choose not to get (maybe they are healthy and don't need it). Some of these people are probably illegal immigrants and should not be here in the first place.
Another 34% income between 10K-20K - which makes some of these people elligible for Medicaid too.
So if people are not concerned themselves to get "coverage", why should the government be??

Lina, when I say afford I mean afford.
I know plenty of people who would rather pay cash for emergency visit then $200 mon for life.
They can afford but decided to smoke, drink, party and do other fun things with their money (after tax of course ;-) )

Oleg, perhaps you missed theHitler and Mussolini statements made by another forumer, or the post about delusional liberals... but we were talking about conserving water... and while it might not be a necessity in states like NY and Michigan,it is not completely insane for the government toenact water conservation laws in states where water is in short supply... and that is a fact! Now I would love too see you address the other hysterical posts in this thread.

Alex, you can't get decent coverage for $200/month in New Jersey... when I lost my job about 6 years ago, I was paying a little over $400/month, and those were COBRA rates.
