Julia, the examples you gave might be OK to designated as "women's issues", although I think human rights covers them all pretty well. The organizations i have an issue with are Black Engineers, Women Engineers, etc. I think the only goal this achieves is further segregation and promotes an implications that blacks and women are not good enough to stand their own ground amongst their peers

women and minorities still have reason to feel excluded... just because white men don't have "white" associations, doesn't mean they don't exist. I'm not a big fan of these organizations, but I can understand why they might be necessary.

What about Congressonall Black Caucus? How is it not racist if their whole caucus is based on race only? Or Hispanic caucus?

I really dont know anything about CBS or other minority caucuses, but I would imagine their objective is to advancecertain goals of their own people, very much likemany white congressmentry to advancetheir own goals, without overtly stating it orgiving their causean official title.is it really so uncommon for politicians in Washington to have certain alliances? the only difference is that many of the white congressmen know each other from school, country clubs, their families might go way back...why is itso surprising that minorities might form these organizations to help level the playing field?
.
as I said before, I'm not a big fan of thesetype of associations, but I can understand why there's a need for them.

No, there is no need for them. Blacks like Clarence Thomas and Condoleeza Rice can advance their causes without help from those bullying organizations.

minorities still need a lot of help... and while I'm (and others like me) sympathetic to their cause, I doubt I would fight as hardto advanceit as some of the black politicians... Clarence and Condoleezza can't afford toappear biased or too "black".

The best help for minorities starts with providing them with good schools. It all starts early in life. Read the article in today's WSJ about the huge success of charter schools in Harlem.
And despite the popularity and success of this program , the teachers unions are fighting it. It's obvious that they don't give a rat's ass about those black kids future. It's all about having power over government money. So, perpetuating poverty and poor grades in minority communities is a tool for teachers unions to demand more money from the government for their own benefit packages.
