oh, one thing about herbs: I grow herbs in pots on my deck over the summer. Not because I'm a good gardener ( I really am not!:-D ), but because it's the easiest thing to do. By the end of the season there is always lots and lots left. I pick them up, and freeze in zip-lock bags. We have fresh herbs for cooking all winter long! They wouldn't do well in salads - lose texture, but for cooking - perfect! Rosemary, thyme, lemon balm, sage, parsley, dill ( chopped finely, in a box) stay incredibly flavorful. Basil you can't really freeze....It is so nice to get those herbs out in the winter, they remind me of warm days.
